Controller Location: Tempe, AZ Salary: $90,000-$130,000 DOE + Bonus + Benefits Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, Holidays, PTO Job Type: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP Sponsorship is not available Relocation assistance is available Controller Description Our client is looking for a hands-on Controller to join their small yet expanding team in Tempe, AZ that is preparing for a new phase of growth. This is an in-office position in Tempe, AZ. Our client is looking for a candidate who has supported company growth and strategy not only in profit but also geographically. You will be responsible for executing and overseeing daily accounting initiatives while ultimately ensuring the best practices and processes have been instituted and effectively carried out to maximize profitability. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of experience acting as a Controller and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment where you will be working alongside and ultimately reporting to the CEO and owner of the company. This is a cash heavy company so you must have experience making the decisions on how to channel additional profits once you have controlled your costs. To be successful in this role, you must have a hands-on, roll up your sleeves mentality to get the job done rather than wanting to sit back and be a receiver of information. Controller Responsibilities • Orchestrate timely month end closing • Analyze inventory trends and relationship to cash flow • Work with major suppliers on compliance, reporting, costs, purchasing, and payable matters • Establish financial controls and review records and results • Ensure integrity and accuracy of all financial reporting • Create and implement written policies in accordance with GAAP • Oversee Human Resource matters including all compliance and employee benefits • Validate accuracy of recorded assets and liabilities • Confirm accurate expense coding and account reconciliations, petty cash, wire transfers, etc. • Partner with CPAs to confirm access to information/documents to prepare reporting and returns • Ensure retail KPIs fall within budget and forecasted to ensure profitability targets are achieved • Strategize and participate in the expansion of current and future locations Controller Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required • 3+ years of experience serving as a controller required • 7+ years of accounting experience required • Well-versed in accounting software required; Great Plains a plus • Proficiency in Excel (macros, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.) required • Finance or accounting background within the retail industry a plus
